Disconnecting
We don’t disconnect anything. Gas cookers and boilers must be disconnected by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Washing machines and dishwashers just need unplugging with the water turned off. Please empty and defrost fridges and freezers before we come; we can’t take bulk food waste.
Why appliances can’t go with general rubbish
Electricals are recycled separately so the metals and plastics can be recovered. Fridges and freezers also contain refrigerant gases and insulation foam that have to be taken out at a specialist plant rather than crushed with everything else.
For businesses, Welsh workplace recycling rules have required small electricals to be kept separate since April 2026. We keep them apart at the tip, and your waste transfer note records what you handed over.
Buying a new one?
Many shops will take your old appliance away when they deliver the new one. It’s worth asking before you book us.

Do you take broken appliances?
Yes, working or not.
Is a fridge-freezer one item?
Yes, it’s £75 like a fridge or a freezer on its own.
Can you take a gas cooker?
Yes, once a Gas Safe registered engineer has disconnected it. We don’t disconnect gas appliances.
